As always with The Seamstress of Bloomsbury products, this dress is beautiful quality. Its Crepe de chine fabric hangs beautifully and washes great (with care). Its a lovely full skirt but drapes to a perfect 40s silhouette. The contrasting button hole stitching, which matches the double collar and beautiful beveled square buttons, really finish this piece off.

The Mae Tea Dress in Red is probably my favourite 'Seamstress of Bloomsbury' dress bought from RocknRomance. I have worn it and washed it several times as I bought it over a year ago. The features of the dress that I particularly like are the long, full circular skirt, the cream contrast detailing and the general standard of tailoring. In the picture I am wearing a light cotton petticoat but the generous circle skirt would also look good with a full net petticoat to adapt the 40's aesthetic to a 50’s style. The cream double collar detail and contrasting angled buttonholes, as well as the feature square buttons really emphasise vintage quality. The belt helps to emphasise the fitted body of the dress, which is extremely flattering to my pear shaped figure, but I like to tie the bow at the back rather than the front to create a smoother silhouette. I love this dress so much that I am probably going to use my review rewards to buy the same style in the new green colour. Like most dresses of this brand, it is made from an authentic semi-synthetic rayon crepe de chine. The fabric is pleasantly light and drapey and feels a bit like silk. It is much nicer than modern synthetics. However, it does take a bit more ironing than some fabrics and needs to be treated with care. Many brands recommend hand-washing and line-drying but are fine in the machine. This fabric must be hand-washed or dry-cleaned to prevent damage. The bright red and cream colours are accurately represented in the photographs and look tasteful rather than gaudy because of the simple style of the dress. This dress is a little longer than most Seamstress of Bloomsbury dresses and the skirt is a good below the knee length for me at 5'9". I am between a size 10 and 12 in most stores. In this brand I always order a 12 and have got a couple of items in 14. I recommend sizing up, particularly if you are tall because the skirts get longer with size increases.
