Another lovely blouse. A more relaxed fit than having to tuck in but still has the vintage look. The arms are on the longer side but the gathering at the wrist looks ok

The Clarice Blouse in black is one of my favourite 'Seamstress of Bloomsbury' blouses. The Clarice style is very flattering to pear shaped women and anybody with a small high waist in relation to their other body proportions. The blouse is quite fitted and short, but not as short as the Greta style which I cannot wear because it shows my tummy. The bow at the front ties on the narrowest part of my waist, which is just under my ribs and is just long enough to meet the top of high waist trousers or skirts. It probably will not reach your regular jeans or skirts that sit on the hips though. It is also possible to tuck the ties of the Clarice in to your waistband and put a wide belt over the top. This creates a fabulous hourglass figure effect with wide leg trousers such as the Winnie Trousers or a full circle skirt such as the Isabelle (which can also be bought from RocknRomance). The row of tiny buttons fastening with button loops create authentic vintage detail and interest on the front of the blouse, and the loose long sleeves make the style appropriate for all but the hottest times of year. I have very long arms and quite plump arms and am delighted that the sleeves fit me perfectly. I have this blouse in four colours and expect that I will buy more.
Like most blouses of this brand the Clarice is made from an authentic semi-synthetic rayon crepe de chine. The fabric is pleasantly light and drapey and feels a bit like silk. It is much nicer than modern synthetics. However, it does take a bit more ironing than some fabrics and needs to be treated with care. The description says you can machine wash this blouse. I hand wash mine because machine washing made holes in a blouse of this brand which I own. I am also careful to use cool water because I am sure that my older Clarice blouses have shrunk very slightly with repeated washing.
In this brand I always order a size 12 even though a 10 fits well in other brands. I recommend sizing up if you are between sizes, but in styles which are designed to be quite fitted, such as the Clarice, it is also important that the blouse is not too big.
